Create anyway

Even if no one listens

Even if no one sees

Even if no one cares

Besides you.

If it brings you joy

If it fills your cup

If it is your passion

Then it is worth it.

What inspired this short poem?

In 2023 I read, “Create Anyway: The Joy of Pursuing Creativity in the Margins of Motherhood,” by Ashlee Gadd. It inspired and encouraged me immensely to continue making time to create, even as a busy mother and wife. It comes from the perspective of a Christian writer, with creating being a way to honor the Lord with the gifts He’s given us, in addition to bringing joy to our own lives and hopefully the lives of others too. Regardless of whether you believe in God or not, creating gives us humans a sense of purpose. We are creative beings. To create is to invite joy and hope into our lives. Our creative passions can encourage and inspire others (and so much more!). They are there for a reason. So follow your heart and do what you were meant to do. Even if you think you are not good enough. Even if you struggle with thinking you should just give up. Keep going. It is worth it. You are worth it. We don’t know what we are truly capable of unless we try!  Create anyway. ❤️

P.S. Real talk, mostly talking to myself here, as I can tend to be my own worst critic and often struggle with thoughts of giving up. However, I’m sure others can use the reminder too, hence why I’m sharing. ❤️
